We monitor debit card activity using advanced technology to review debit card transactions in near real-time. We will contact you immediately if a suspicious transaction occurs. To make sure we can reach you quickly and easily, ensure we have your updated contact information.

When we text you, we will ask you "yes" and "no" questions. We will never ask you for your Social Security number, Banking Butler login credentials, or to click a link of any kind. If you receive a text message asking for this kind of information, it is a scam. Please do not respond to text messages if you're unsure. You can always contact us if you have questions.

It's important to regularly monitor your credit reports to ensure the accuracy of your financial information and to protect yourself from potential identity theft. You can obtain free credit reports from the three major credit bureaus—Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion—allowing you to access your credit reports at no cost once every twelve months.

If you notice any discrepancies, it's crucial to take immediate action by contacting the credit bureaus and the relevant financial institutions to report the suspicious activity and to protect your credit.

Consider placing a credit freeze on your credit files to enhance your financial security. A credit freeze restricts access to your credit report, making it significantly more difficult for identity thieves to open new accounts in your name. This is because creditors typically need to review your credit report before approving a new account, and with a freeze in place, they won't be able to access your information without your permission.

To place a credit freeze, you will need to contact each of the three major credit bureaus—Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion. Each bureau will provide you with a unique PIN or password that you can use to temporarily lift or remove the freeze when necessary, such as when you need to apply for credit.

If you suspect that you may be a victim of fraud or identity theft, it's a good idea to place a fraud alert on your credit files. A fraud alert is a notice that warns creditors to take extra precautions when verifying the identity of anyone applying for credit in your name. This added layer of security can help prevent identity thieves from opening new accounts or making significant financial transactions using your personal information.

To place a fraud alert, you only need to contact one of the three major credit bureaus—Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion. The bureau you contact is required to notify the other two, ensuring that the alert is placed on all your credit files.

Using your First Harrison Debit Mastercard® with a mobile wallet offers several advantages in terms of convenience and safety. Mobile wallets allow you to make payments with just a tap or a scan, eliminating the need to carry physical cards.

From a safety perspective, mobile wallets use encryption and tokenization to protect your card information. When you make a payment, your actual card number is not shared with the merchant; instead, a unique token is used, reducing the risk of your card details being stolen.

Many mobile wallets require biometric authentication, such as fingerprint or facial recognition, to authorize transactions. This adds an extra layer of security compared to using a physical card with just a PIN.

See our page for more information about mobile wallets and how to set yours up with the First Harrison Debit Mastercard!
